Whats the best way of working out whether you are a lefty or a righty? I was shown a technique once but I dont know how credible it is. You swing both of your arms back aand forward then grasp them together in front. If you right thumb is underneath your left then you are a creative thinker (right brain). Ever heard of this?
No I hadn’t. I tried it and my right thumb was underneath, but I’m left handed so I think that would influence it.
I think we need to be a little careful with the term, because all research I read is saying that this categorisation is too crude – both sides are involved in all brain operations. However, applied it as a means of describing modes of thinking; a preference for creativity versus logic, it has some usefulness, because people probably do sit along a continuum of these styles.
Using that as a way of thinking about it, listening to people is probably going to be most effective way. Just not as fun as the thumb.
